Infection at the implant site
The most common complication, and largely preventable with good hygiene and aftercare. Caught early, it is usually simple to treat.
An implant failing to integrate
In a small percentage of cases the bone does not bond to an implant. With several implants placed, each one matters. Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, and gum disease raise the risk, and a failed implant can usually be replaced after healing.
Nerve or sinus involvement
